Trikona meaning in Vedic astrology: trine houses

Also called: trikonas, kona, trine, trines

Definition

Trikona (also called kona or trine) is the group made up of the 1st, 5th and 9th houses of a birth chart.

Trines are counted from any reference point in the chart, not just the 1st house. P.V.R. Narasimha Rao (PVR) holds that houses in trine from a reference benefit it and bring it prosperity and well-being.

BPHS says the lord of a kona gives auspicious results, and the lord of the 1st house is especially auspicious because the 1st is both a kendra (angular house) and a kona.

PVR also names four sets of trines: the trines from the 1st (1st, 5th, 9th) are the dharma trikonas, while the trines from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th houses are the artha, kaama and moksha trikonas, matching the four aims of life.
