Saturn in Pisces (Mar 2025 to Jun 2027)
Saturn, the slowest moving planet used in Vedic astrology, travels through sidereal Pisces from 29 March 2025 to 3 June 2027 (IST). Which house it occupies for you depends on your Vedic ascendant (lagna), the sign rising on the eastern horizon at birth, or your moon sign.

The full timeline, retrograde loops and speeds
A transit (gochar) is a planet's current position in the sky, read against the positions in your birth chart. Saturn's stay in Pisces includes two retrograde loops.
Retrogression (vakra) means a planet appears to stop, move backwards for a while and then regain its course; B.V. Raman notes that planets other than the Sun and Moon do this at times.
The timeline (all dates IST):
- 29 Mar 2025: enters Pisces
- 13 Jul to 28 Nov 2025: retrograde
- 27 Jul to 11 Dec 2026: retrograde
- 3 Jun 2027: enters Aries
- 20 Oct 2027 to 23 Feb 2028: back in Pisces, because of retrograde motion
Why so long? Each planet has its own pace.
B.V. Raman gives approximate speeds: the Moon takes about two and a quarter days per sign, the Sun about a month, Mars about 45 days, Jupiter about one year, and Saturn about two and a half years per sign. Raman reads the triennial results from Saturn.
Skybond's catalog also tracks Saturn's nakshatra changes, a nakshatra being one of the 27 lunar constellations that subdivide the zodiac. While in Pisces, Saturn moves into Revati on 17 May 2026, back into Uttara Bhadrapada on 10 October 2026, and into Revati again on 8 February 2027.
Saturn's sign and dignity
Pisces is a water sign and a dual sign, ruled by Jupiter. Saturn is neutral in Jupiter's sign, so Saturn is neither exalted nor debilitated there.
Pisces' nature and Saturn's dignity here
Pisces is the 12th sign of the zodiac, a water sign and a dual (changeable) sign. Its lord is Jupiter.
Every planet has natural relationships with the others: friends, neutrals and enemies.
In P.V.R. Narasimha Rao's table (from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, R. Santhanam's translation), Saturn counts Mercury and Venus as friends, Jupiter as neutral, and the Sun, Moon and Mars as enemies.
Because Jupiter is neutral to Saturn, Pisces is a neutral planet's sign for Saturn: neither exalted, debilitated nor in its own sign. For reference, Saturn is exalted in Libra, debilitated in Aries, and owns Capricorn and Aquarius; Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, debilitated in Capricorn, and owns Sagittarius and Pisces.
PVR offers an analogy for dignity: the own sign is like home, the exaltation sign like a favourite party or picnic, and the debilitation sign like being stuck at a place one hates.

Find your ascendant (lagna) or moon sign in the grid to see which house Saturn occupies. The count uses whole-sign houses, so each sign is one whole house.
How the count works, with an example
Whole-sign counting is straightforward: the sign of your reference point is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on. One reference point is the lagna, the sign rising on the eastern horizon at birth. PVR puts it plainly: 'We can see which house a planet is transiting in, with respect to natal lagna, and expect the planet to influence the matters of that house'.
The traditional alternative is to count from the janma rasi, the sign holding the Moon at birth; PVR and B.V. Raman both use this. The same whole-sign count applies from a moon sign as from an ascendant.
An example, using Skybond's sample teaching chart (not a real person): the lagna is Cancer and the Moon is in Leo. Saturn in Pisces therefore sits in the 9th house from the lagna and the 8th from the Moon. One chart, two counts, both worth a look.
In the grid above, Aries ascendants find Saturn in the 12th house, Taurus in the 11th, Gemini in the 10th, and so on down to Pisces ascendants, for whom Saturn transits the 1st house itself.
Signs it aspects
From Pisces, Saturn also aspects Taurus, Virgo and Sagittarius. Saturn aspects the 3rd, 7th and 10th signs from where it sits (graha drishti).
Saturn's special aspects and transit aspects
Every planet casts an aspect (graha drishti, a planet's 'sight') onto the 7th sign from itself. Three planets have extra sight: Mars also aspects the 4th and 8th, Jupiter also the 5th and 9th, and Saturn also the 3rd and 10th.
So from Pisces, Saturn's aspects fall on Taurus (3rd), Virgo (7th) and Sagittarius (10th). Counted from your lagna or moon sign, those signs are the houses Saturn aspects.
Aspects matter in transits too. PVR: 'We can also look at the aspects cast by transiting planets'. The house Saturn sits in and the three houses it sights together form the frame for reading this event in your chart.
Reading it for your chart
The house is a starting point, not a verdict. Your birth chart decides what the transit touches.
Why the natal chart comes first
The house shows where to look; it is not a result.
PVR is explicit that published transit results 'are given only for reference. In reality, not everyone with the same janma rasi experiences the same results', because 'the results given by planets depend on what they stand for in the natal chart'.
B.V. Raman agrees: 'There is no denying the fact that the birth horoscope directly affects Gochara results'.
Raman also notes why slow planets get the attention: the yearly effects are read from Jupiter and the triennial results from Saturn, and he gives the slow-moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn, the most weight.
To go further, Skybond publishes one transit article per event for each of the 12 ascendants, free to read at /transits/{sign}/. In the app, transits are written for your own houses, counted from your lagna and from your Moon.

If your moon sign is Virgo, which house does Saturn in Pisces fall in?
Show answer
Counting whole signs from Virgo, Pisces is the 7th sign, so Saturn transits your 7th house. The same count applies from an ascendant or a moon sign.
Which three signs does Saturn aspect while in Pisces?
Show answer
Taurus (3rd), Virgo (7th) and Sagittarius (10th). Saturn has extra sight on the 3rd and 10th signs beyond the universal 7th.

FAQ
How long does Saturn stay in Pisces?
Saturn is in sidereal Pisces from 29 March 2025 to 3 June 2027 (IST), then returns from 20 October 2027 to 23 February 2028 due to retrograde motion. That is roughly two and a half years in all, counting the return, in line with Raman's pace of about two and a half years per sign.
Is Saturn in Pisces good or bad?
This page does not rate it. PVR notes that standard transit results are given only for reference and that results depend on what the planet stands for in your birth chart. The house it falls in shows where to look.
Should transits be counted from the ascendant or the moon sign?
Both are traditional. PVR counts from the natal lagna, and PVR and B.V. Raman both also count from the janma rasi, the Moon's sign at birth.
Skybond writes transits from both points.
