Drishti meaning in Vedic astrology: planetary aspect
Also called: drishtis, graha drishti, aspect, aspects
Definition
Drishti means aspect: the way a planet sees and influences another planet or house in the chart. There are two kinds, graha drishti (planetary aspect) and rasi drishti (sign aspect).
The main rule of graha drishti: all planets aspect the 7th house from themselves. Jupiter also aspects the 5th and 9th houses from itself, Mars the 4th and 8th, and Saturn the 3rd and 10th. BPHS gives the same rule.
A planet in an aspected house is aspected too. P.V.R. Narasimha Rao (PVR) gives the example: Jupiter in Taurus aspects Saturn in Capricorn, the 9th house from Jupiter.
Aspects also help judge a house: BPHS says a house prospers when a benefic, such as Jupiter or Venus, joins or aspects it.
